Let’s talk about local

As a buyer, I have a mission to source food locally whenever possible. This meets the need to grow department sales, satisfy customer demand for local products, and give back to the community.

But doing this properly takes time, and managing so many local supplier relationships comes with its own challenges.

Below, I discuss some of the key challenges I know almost all buyers face, and how I use the Forager system to resolve them.

  1. Not having the time and information to maximize marketing of local suppliers to drive sales

  2. Organizing and simplifying orders across store departments

  3. Spending too much time placing & managing orders and not enough on executing larger store initiatives

  4. Lacking data & analytics to understand and advertise the growth of our local program
